Kisuke didn't show it, but he heard each of Hanatarou's words clearly; he could tell that the man didn't like being the center of attention, and decided that simply having him be around others would be good enough, for now.
However, the remark about not having a definite place to stay made him pause, a spoonful of soba halfway from his mouth.
"Well," he said easily, "if you don't have anywhere else to stay, why don't you bunk here, at least for tonight? You can always find somewhere else tomorrow if you want to, and it would be easy to accommodate you. We don't often get to host guests as...nice as you."
A healthy silence cut through the buzz of conversation around the table, momentarily accentuating the five gazes which settled curiously on Hanatarou.

Hanatarou met every set of eyes with a frantic, nervous glance of his own. A compliment and an invitation that made him the center of unwanted attention. He seemed to fold into himself, shoulders hunched and head bowed. An invitation and compliment/i] in one. "I w-would...Appreciate that, Urahara-san."

Kisuke smiled widely, not bothering to hide it behind his fan. Just as he had hoped, he had illicited both an affirmative and one of Hanatarou's trademark looks of embarrassed, near-frantic desperation.
He's actually cute when he stutters!
Across the table, Yoruichi smiled too, though her eyes were humorlessly fierce when they met Kisuke's.
"Perfect!" she said, "It's settled, then." And just like that, conversation returned and the rest of the table's occupants went back to what they had been doing.
Soon enough, dinner was over; one pot of soba only went so far with Jinta and Yoruichi both wolfing down bowlfuls in seconds. Tessai wrangled the children into the kitchen to begin cleaning up, while Yoruichi dragged Kisuke out into the hallway, a grimace on her face as she growled at him.
"You do realize that if you hurt him, I WILL kill you."
Kisuke just grinned. He had no intention of hurting Hanatarou, in any sense of the word, but it was quite endearing of Yoruichi to worry.
"You do realize that all I've offered him is dinner and a place to stay, Yoruichi. He can even sleep next to you if you feel you have to protect him." THe look on Yoruichi's face showed that she did not think it neccesary, but as she walked off it was clear that she still wasn't entirely settled by Kisuke's words.
Now then, where'd Hanatarou get to?

Hanatarou hadn't thought ahead enough to spare clothing. Yen and a fake ID, but he had to borrow a spare yukata from the shop's stores to sleep in. Especially when he had no idea if he should rest in his gigai, or not.
He found Urahara in the halls and voiced his question, "Urahara-san–" Hesitant, but no way of knowing if he did not ask. "Should I...Should I sleep in this gigai? I know it doesn't damage them, but..."

"Well, unless your gigai has been tailored to an exact model of your soul, it will be rather uncomfortable to sleep in. So in your case, I'd suggest sleeping in your soul form. Just leave your gigai lying by your bed in a neutral position and re-enter it when you wake up."
As he talked, he led Hanatarou down the hallway to the spare bedroom, sliding open the door to reveal a well-made futon on a tatami floor.
"My bedroom is right across the hall," Kisuke said half-seriously, "so if you hear anything go bump in the night, it's probobly just me."
Hanatarou's expression made Kisuke laugh out loud, and he patted the smaller man's shoulder lightly.
"I'm just kidding, my friend. Still, if you need anything, just open the door and shake me until I wake up. Sweet dreams!" And then he walked through said door and made himself ready for sleep, his last thought before his head hit the pillow circling his brain.
Wonder what I'll do if there comes a knocking on my door?
Wonder what Yoruichi will do to me in the morning?

The next morning dawned with Hanatarou in the kitchen as early as Tessai was. Looking as if he had not gotten a wink of sleep because he had not. There were many things that were hair-twisting mysteries to Hanatarou. How anyone could enjoy fighting so much as to make it their lives only enjoyment, how 'micro-waves' worked or how the onigiri sold in the living world was so perfectly made.
However, he did know that he could hardly interrupt someone's sleep– Let alone his host!– so he sat and nursed a cup of tea since Tessai refused to allow him to help, until Urahara finally showed himself and breakfast was over. "Urahara-san-" Sidestepping Jinta (who hardly moved an inch for Hanatarou) the shinigami stumbled into the hall after Urahara. "Erm! I– I think there is something wrong with my gigai-" Oh, what if he'd broken it, somehow?

It was way too early. Ganju knew that Urahara wasn't someone who woke early. He also knew that waking Kisuke Urahara for anything less than an emergency was a bad idea. So he spent a good 20 minutes just after dawn, standing in front of Urahara's shop, shifting uncomfortably, debating whether or not to open the door.
He decided to knock, now that the sun had been up for a good amount of time. He nearly tripped over his own feet, his shoes felt ill-fitting. In Ganju's opinion, the clothing they wore in this world was plain-looking and uncomfortable. The simple khaki pants and white shirt he was wearing had few pockets and Ganju felt quite exposed without fireworks and knives hidden on his person.
"Urahara-san?" he called as he knocked. It was then that he recognized the spiritual pressure of his friend Hanatarou. He wondered how he could've missed it. "Hana?" He knocked again.

Although he had every intention of asking Urahara a rather pressing question, yet Jinta distracted the hat-wearing man with some loud remark and the shinigami was left skirting around the others and out of the kitchen.
After all, if this was something he had caused with user error...
Hanatarou heard the knock at the door and sensed that bright flare of reiatsu that had him in the front of the building as Tessai answered the door. "Ganju-san!" Surprising to see the man here in Karakura, more surprising to see him in such a...Proper outfit. "Wh-what are you doing here!"

A bright grin spread across Ganju's face at the sight of the petite Shinigami. "Hana!" He waved, jogging over. "Onee-san sent me to train." The truth was closer to Kukaku was upset with Ganju over, yet again, destroying something valuable in the process of some act of clumsiness or another (Ganju had already forgotten just what and she wanted to get him out of her sight for a while.
It had been quite some time since Ganju had seen Hanatarou, he was glad to see Hana, but he noticed that something was amiss. "Something wrong, Hana?"

Tessai closed the door behind Ganju and left to announce the arrival of a guest Urahara most likely already knew had arrived. This left Hanatarou and the burlier man alone in the entrance-way. "Eh?" Hanatarou felt his ears grow warm with embarrassment, yet he did no falter. "I-I am fine. Why would you ask?"

Ganju shrugged. "You just look troubled. These guys aren't giving you trouble?" Ganju knew that Hanatarou was more than capable of taking care of himself. In spite of the 7th seat's slight frame and frail appearance, Hana did not need a body guard. All the same, it was clear that something was on the shinigami's mind.
It had been a while since he'd been to the shoten but Ganju didn't feel at all uncomfortable walking through the halls. "And what are you doing here anyway?"

"O-of course not! Urahara-san is a perfect host!" Hanatarou's tone swayde close to reprimanding; while he did not know Ganju as well as one might assume, he still trusted the other man enough not to fear some shout or smack in return. Well, nothing unexpected in any case. Hanatarou was beginning to worry, if Ganju could see the worry on his face... "Also training! I-in a way...I had no where to stay, and Urahara-san was kind enough to let me stay. Although...erm, Ganju-san? May I ask–" He pointed at the other, "Why are you wearing that?"

Ganju looked down at his clothes, frowning at how plain and uncomfortable they were. "I didn't bring anything extra with me." Ganju shifted the bag on his shoulder. "Ran into some trouble with a Hollow earlier and tore my clothes." He held out the bag. "Everything's in here. I spent all the human world money I brought with me buying something to wear."
Ganju looked around. Tessai had disappeared into a back room or something and Jinta and Ururu were outside "cleaning" but he didn't see Urahara. "Where is Urahara-san anyhow?"

"Ganju! My home is once again enlivened by my favorite fireworks maestro!"
And my favorite brother-of-one-of-my-lovers. But there was no need to bring that to Ganju's attention...again.
The shopkeeper stepped out into the sunlight, cane and geta clacking on the steps as he walked out of the shop. This time, his smile held all of it's traditional creepiness, knowing that Ganju had seen things living with his sister that had immunized him from the brunt of its' affect.
Kukaku tended to have that sort of affect on one's mind.
"Now," Kisuke said, "judging from your appearance, I'd guess that you came here without a change of clothes, from which I'll guess that you don't have a place to stay yet, right?" The blonde didn't wait for an answer, pacing and continuing without pause.
"If that's the case, I suppose that we could bunk you here, for a little while. Now let's see," he said, rubbing his chin in thought, "I wouldn't want you to get clubbed in your sleep, so you can't sleep in Jinta and Ururu's room. Tessai likes his privacy too much, and there's no way you're sleeping in my room, which means that we'll have to roll out a futon either in the living room, which I wouldn't recomend on account of our recent rat problem, OOOOOR," Kisuke hid his smile behind his fan,
"We could set you up in the guest room, next to Hanatarou. Unless you have any objections, Yamada-san?"

The grin Urahara had appeared with left Hanatarou feeling odd; as if he were missing the punchline of some amusing joke. It reminded him ever so slightly of the former Captain of the Third Division, who had also made Hanatarou feel like a mouse under a cats gaze. Then Urahara was making those remarks and the smaller man lost that discomfort, nodding. "Yes. I mean–" Waved his hands about, "I do not mind!" Hanatarou gave Ganju a glance, turning his gaze back onto Urahara. "We have lived together in the past, if for a short time."
Another pause and Hanatarou sounder nervous as he went on, words a rush. "Ah...Urahara-san, I believe my Soul Candy is defective, I was, ah, never able to leave my gigai last night."
