This is an OC of mine, and as such I'm a little shy about how I made him. Please tell me what you think, esspecially of his backstory.
Name: Taiko Fon
Age: Undefined, but somewhere around 5,000 years old, give or take a few years.
Gender: All Man, baby!
Class: Soul Reaper Dai-Captain (I'll explain shortly)
Hair (Color, Length, etc... ): Midnight blue and ash grey, tied in a straight line from the base of his skull, much the same as Soi Fon's, only with a small, 8-spoked wheel tied to the end instead of a ring. Also has a braided goatee, like a shorter form of the traditional Egyptian pharoah's beard.
Eyes (Color, any details?): Emerald Green, but otherwise the same as Soi Fon's, except that his are a bit...manlier.
Height: 7' 6"
Weight: 225 lbs.
General Looks (Clothing, Arrancar Markings, etc... ): Taiko wears a standard Soul Reaper hakama, frayed and torn around the bottom. Around his sash, he has a piece of cloth on which are strung nine roughly cut patches of dried skin, each bearing a stylized number, 10-2. Around his torso, he wears the shredded remains of the standard Soul Reaper shirt (I don't know the Japanese word for it) tied tightly around him. If they're removed, it can be seen that he has the Squad Two number scarred into his back inside of a diamond, such as found on a Captain's haori. He goes barefoot.
Taiko wears heavy chains wrapped around his torso and crossed over his shoulders. These chains restrict his spiritual pressure to 1% of its' whole; this still gives him enough power to cleave through mountains with ease, and to shunpo increadibly fast.
Taiko's body is built like a mix between Kenpachi, Ishiin, and Yamamoto; he is long-limbed and lean but extremely muscular, has chest and arm hair, and is covered with scars from innumerable battles. His entire body is hard and rough, worn by thousands of years of sand scouring him and by timeless battles.
Taiko's right arm, from 3/4 below the elbow, is cut off. In it's place, he fused his Zanpakuto with the stump and learned to fight with it.
Personality: Taiko is very direct, despises word games, and can be brutally honest, but remembers how to be polite and can interract with his friends and allies peaceably. He does not like fighting with a partner and will forcibly remove anyone who tries to fight by his side, often with a swift punt to the rear, but will most likely apologize for it after the battle.
Taiko sees his enemies as things to be destroyed without remorse, but does not see everyone, or even every Hollow, as his enemy. To those who he DOES see as his enemies, he will stop at nothing to kill them; he will break through walls, crush any bodyguards, hound his target to the ends of the earth, and then murder the target. Often times, he does not rely on stealth, just on his ability to find and eliminate any enemy regardless of where they are or what they try to defend themselves with.
Family (Parents, siblings, etc... ): To keep from telling the story more than once, I'll cut it short to the relvent part: Taiko is Soi Fon's oldest ancestor, the founder of the Fon Clan, and the very first Captain of Squad 2. Other than Soi Fon, Taiko has no family except for his old Squad members, who he saw as his adopted children.
History: The Soul Society has not existed for only 1,000 years; humans have been around for far longer than that, so their afterlife has been as well. Originally, more than 6,000 years ago, the Soul Society was more or less lawless, except for the Four Noble Houses and the Royal House, who each maintained a private garrison of soldiers to keep their own peace.
After a time, the head General of the Royal House decided that action was neccesary to control the anarchy in the afterlife and to regulate the unbalanced passage of souls; to this end, he took his twelve greatest pupils and declared each the Great Captain, or Dai-Captain, of a squad, designating a task to each and giving them the power to form their squads as they saw fit to serve their missions.
Taiko Fon was named Dai-Captain of Squad 2, and was originally given the task of hunting down the Soul Society's greatest and most influencial enemies, eliminating them by any means neccesary. In those days, the rampant lawlessness allowed Squad 2 to move and kill without discretion, though as order was eventually established, the Squad was forced to adopt more subtle tactics so that it's missions and movements could be kept secret from the public. However, Taiko still remembers the glory days when he could walk down a street and murder any fool who was deemed highly dangerous to the new world order.
After close to 2,500 years, the Soul Society grew into something like what it appears to be today, well-maintained and relatively peaceful. However, that all changed when a rift opened between the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo, spilling tens of thousands of Hollows, Menos, and Arrancar into the Seireitei. The rift opened directly over the Squad 2 barracks and almost all within it were eliminated within minutes. Taiko, along with his Lieutenant, Kiren Shihouin, and his top three officers managed to hold off a considerable portion of the attack by killing as many enemies as possible at the breach point, trying to target the more powerful ones as soon as they appeared. Strangely, none of the Espada came through the portal.
After two weeks of non-stop fighting, the Primera Espada (at that time) came through the portal expecting to find the Seireitei in total destruction; he instead found Taiko and his four subordinates standing upon piles of bodies taller than the buildings around them, and all the other remaining Soul Reapers putting up epic fights to quell the invasion.
Furious, the Primera Espada, named Bankotsu, vented his wrath on Taiko's subordinates, killing all of them except for his Lieutenant, Kiren Shihouin, in seconds before engaging the Dai-Captain, cutting off his right arm just below the elbow. In spite of this, he was quickly overcome by Taiko's rage and deadly skill, but rather than stay and fight to the death, he fled back into the portal and sent a flood of other Hollows out. Seeing the bodies of his Squad members, the only family he had ever known, lying in pools of their own blood, slain by a coward who had fled disgracefully from his own deserving death, Taiko lost all will to live and plunged into the flood, eventually passing through the portal to the other side.
There, he found that the portal was only being held open by the combined efforts of the nine Espada underneath of Bankotsu. Taiko quickly made the connection and killed the Espada supporting the portal; once they died, the portal closed immediatly, halting the invasion and trapping Taiko in Hueco Mundo, surrounded by enemies and by the one enemy that had essentially murdered his entire family.
Taiko has been in Hueco Mundo ever since, killing Hollows and searching for Bankotsu, who fled once he realized that Taiko was out for his head. He cut the numbers off of the bodies of the original Espada and keeps them as mementos; he will add Bankotsu's sign when he finds and kills him. For the last 3,500 years, he has done nothing but kill Hollows, surviving through his highly-developed connection with his Zanpakuto and by consuming Hollow flesh, building up an immunity to its toxins and to Hollow influence; he cannot be Hollowfied like Shinji and the others.
Here's where things get tricky: at some point, he meets Ichigo and the others when they go in to rescue Orihime, and thus finds a way back to the Soul Society. But that's all recent stuff, not history.
Sample RP:
They all run from me.
They SHOULD run from me, for I bring their death to them, hot and ready.
I AM their death, their Bane, their Antithesis.
I am the Herald of Hell for Hollows.
So why don't I want to kill this little Hollow girl who stands before me, or her two Hollow friends and their pet Hollow worm?
I think it's her smile.
No Hollow smiles at me with their lips anymore, just with the teeth of their masks.
I like her smile. It is innocent.
I spend most days here hunting, killing, forever fulfilling my old duties and seeking my revenge.
Today, I think I will play tag.

OPTIONAL STUFF TO INCLUDE - At Taiko's age, he sees himself as WAY out of the dating pool. He sees all women, regardless of their age, as girls, children almost (Captain Unohana is the exception; she is wise beyond her years), and values his time with them as a grandfather would with his descendants. He sees men in the same way, as boys to be educated and played with (not pervertedly, but...you know, playfully).
Taiko's power has only grown with age; he is stronger, faster, and more endurant than any enemy he has ever faced because he has 6,000 years of spiritual growth under his belt; his reitsu is so powerful that he had to create chains to bind it within himself, lest he destroy anyone who comes within its' considerable radius.
Taiko knows shunko (hell, he CREATED shunko!!), and frequently uses it in conjunction with his fused Zanpakuto. He prefers to use shunko instead of his bankai or even his shikai, sometimes, because it's much more fun to use. It forms a black lightning storm that arcs off his shoulders wildly, but he has perfect control over the power and can use it devesatingly. It can either be targeted at a single opponent, much like Soi Fon and Yoruichi use, or it can create a massive area of destruction similar to Yamamoto's shikai.
Taiko has heard rumors floating around Hueco Mundo that the Captain of Squad 2 is another of the Fon Clan, a girl, and he is extremely eager to meet her and tell her about her honorable, lethal lineage.
After spending so long in Hueco Mundo, what was his prison has become his home, and he would rather stay there than move back to the Soul Society (so as not to God-mode the other Soul Reapers should conflict arise), but will make regular trips to it and to the World of the Living to visit his descendant, and the descendant of his Lieutenant, Yoruichi, and just to catch up on current affairs.
He is a die-hard cat person; expect to see something between him and Grimmjow sooner or later.

Zanpakto Name: Shinaryun--Death Dragon
Release command, Shikai: "Murder, Shinaryun."
Release command, Bankai: "Unleash the doom of our time, Yusei Shinaryun (Death Dragon Ascendant)."
Other Zanpakto Info: Fused with him, Taiko's zanpakuto helps to sustain him by imparting spirit energy from his defeated foes.
Unreleased, Shinaryun is a standard katana blade fised to Taiko's right stump, blade down. It's blade is thicker and twice as wide as usual, and has finely crafted engravings of skeletal dragons undulating along the tang on both sides. It's blade extends to Taiko's right ankle, giving him great reach.
In Shikai form, Shinaryun's blade grows until it's edge extends all the way down his forearm to form a functional elbow spike; it's forward blade widens and sharpens until the bottom edge appears as a large katana, while a second edge on top resembles a shallowly curved scythe.
In Bankai form, Shinaryun fuses completely with Taiko's stump to form an indestructable metal arm shaped like the bones of a Japanese dragon arm, with three multi-jointed fingers and a thumb. The fingers, thumb, and palm and back of the hand are all extremely sharp, the fingers and thumb themselves shaped like massive, segemnted razor baldes with triangular tips. Matching blades extend from the elbow.
Each release increases Taiko's speed and strength exponentially, and can be increased even further by removing links of his chains or by snapping them off completely. Even without releasing Shinaryun to shikai form or using shunko, Taiko could go toe-to-toe with the release forms of the top three Espada and win.
In Shikai and Bankai form, Shinaryun leaves a trail of Taiko's spirit pressure which keeps wounds from healing. It can only be overcome by greater spirit pressure than Taiko's own, which is virtually nonexistant.

Hope this gets approved. I think that he's cool.
